There is room at the inn..

We now offer a chance to stay at the Stables Inn.  In the 18th & 19th Century this original drovers’ inn was licensed for 11 beds.  In 2012, we completely renovated the sleeping accommodation and now offer two double bedrooms. Once you go through your private original 17th century doorway you will be greeted with a wealth of old original oak beams, low doorways and local stone walls. The two rooms are serviced by one large central bathroom and, therefore, the accommodation is perfect for sharing with family or friends.   The large bathroom has both a shower and a bath to help you, either, wake up and enjoy your day sightseeing or walking or relax after a hard slog around the Shropshire hills, speaking of which, you will have a lovely view of the Stiperstones hills from the bathroom window!

Please note – you will NEVER share your bathroom unless your party has booked the other room.

  • All rooms are double glazed and centrally heated.  The main room has a Queen size bed the other, two singles.  Both have luxurious memory foam mattresses, goose down duvets and plenty of comfy pillows for a great night's sleep.

  • Don’t pack any towels; we have plenty here waiting for you, same goes for a hairdryer, iron & ironing board.

  • Tea, coffee and biscuits are available in your room whenever you want them.

  • Breakfast is as early or as late as you would like. It’s your time away from the rat race so indulge yourselves!

This is a chance to stay in a real pub, with real people who enjoy a quiet drink, great food with good company around a roaring log fire. From upstairs, in the early evening you may hear the sound of laughter, good conversation, the best way to lamb a sheep, the price of cattle feed or the shuffle of a domino or two and it has been like that here for over 340 years and we wouldn’t change it for the world.

The Main Room

Has beautiful views over Long Mountain, the Welsh countryside and the Cheshire plains to the north. This oak beamed room is tastefully decorated and boasts a queensize bed and memory foam mattress to ensure a great night’s sleep. If it’s a lazy morning you are after, the reclaimed oak shutters on the windows will keep out the early morning sun until you are ready for your breakfast.

Price: £ 70 per night (including breakfast) - Book both rooms and

the price is only £120 per night for both rooms (inc. breakfast)

The Twin Room

This room has some of the oldest beams in the house; in fact, you can see the carpenter’s roman numerals on the beams to remind him of the sets of matching beams after shaping them on the ground!  Two single beds with fantastically comfortable memory foam mattresses will be just the ticket to get you off to sleep after a day’s walking, sightseeing or shopping. The fact that you may have tried our great homemade food and a pint or two of our real ales from award winning local breweries may help too....just a little, maybe?
